President, Women Working Home, Inc., Edison, New Jersey, 1980; Creator: 1st National Survey on: Women Working Home- The Invisible Workforce, 1978; Founder, National Alliance Homebased Businesswomen (President 1980-1982, legis. chair 1982-85; 1st National professional organization for homeworkers in USA).
Legislative work on behalf of homebased business since 1982. Including: Testimony to Federal Secretary of Labor on restrictive home based business regulations, directed to the Vermont Knitters case (1982), testimony to US Senate on Freedom of Workplace bill (Sen Hatch). Testimony to US House of Representatives Labor Committee on proper status of clerical homeworkers. Testimony to Governor of California in favor of bill assisting homebased transcribers (1983). Presentation to 1984 Republican platform committee that subsequently adopted a pro homework plank. Testimony to New Jersey Senate on revisions to Home Work Bill 1986. 1986 White House Conference on Small Business, Co-Chair of Homebased Business issues (Passed as Issue No.21 of the final 60 national issues).
Lectured and conducted workshops extensively on homebased business in Universities and Community Colleges. Speaker at National and State Conferences on home business, including 5th National Conference of State and Local Officials and Legislators, 1983, as well as on many TV programs on this subject nationwide. Negotiated an agreement between the Management Assistance division of the SBA and the NAHB to provide business information and assistance to women who cannot afford to pay for help in starting a homebased business.
